About the Role

Job Summary:

Milestones Switchgears Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced and innovative Design Head to lead the Electrical Design department. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in designing LT & HT electrical panels, lead a team of 15+ engineers, and ensure delivery of accurate, cost-effective, and compliant electrical design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading & Managing Design Team.

Job file Study, & Distribution to design Engineers for Preparation of Drawings &

BOM.

Coordination with clients & Consultants.

Drawing checking & Submissions for client approvals.

Oversee design quality, standardization, drawing review & explain to design

Engineers and ensure Compliance.

Interface with clients/consultants for Technical Clarifications & Drawing

approvals.

Review and approve electrical design documents, including SLDs, GA drawings,

wiring schematics, and BOQs. and handover to production.

Approve BOM in SAP handover to Purchase Team for start Procurements of

Material.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and design

guidelines for the department.

Technical support to design Team/Marketing Team/Costing Team/Purchase

Team/Production Team & Quality Team for timely dispatch of Panels as per

client requirements.

Job Reporting to Director/Marketing Team.

Preparation of Addition/Deletion for cost evaluation.

Preparation of MIS Every month for Validation.

Requirements:

In-depth understanding of power & control circuits, switchgear, and control logic.

Plan, allocate, and supervise design work across a team of ~15 engineers and drafters.

Review and approve GA drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.

Strong knowledge of IEC 61439, IS 8623, UL 508A, and related standards.

Ensure design compliance with industry standards like IEC, IS, and client specifications.

Oversee the use and standardization of design software: AutoCAD, E-Plan, and E-TAP.

Work closely with production, quality, sales, and procurement teams to ensure timely project execution.

Guide the team on value engineering, cost optimization, and product improvements.

Prepare technical documentation and support customer technical reviews as needed.

Train and mentor junior engineers and ensure process standardization across projects.

Technical Requirements:

Proficiency in AutoCAD, E-Plan, and E-TAP for electrical design and simulation.

Strong understanding of LT/HT electrical systems, VCBs, MCC/PCC/AMF/Capacitor Panels, Bus Ducts, and Control Panels.

Familiarity with CPRI/ERDA standards and type-testing requirements.

Knowledge of protection schemes, earthing calculations, and relay coordination.

Leadership & Management Skills:

Proven experience in managing large technical design teams (minimum 15 members).

Strong project management, decision-making, and communication skills.

Ability to handle multiple design projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Focused on quality assurance and continuous process improvement.
